All About Rose Quartz

Love.

So much of our life revolves around those four letters. Self love, romantic love, platonic love - what is life without love?

For as long as humans have told stories, we've told stories about love and some how, we can come to overlook it in our lives. Love doesn't have to be in your face and bold.

Sometimes it's soft and subtle - just like Rose Quartz.

Rose Quartz has been known as THE love stone throughout history and across ancient cultures. This pretty pink stone has so much beautiful lore, tales full of heartbreak, loss and love.

Some of the earliest lore surrounding Rose Quartz dates back to ancient Mesopotamia, where the stone was associated with beauty, fertility, and devotion. It was believed that wearing Rose Quartz could attract love, and not just romantic love, but harmony and favour from others.

In ancient Egypt, Rose Quartz was treasured for its connection to the heart and the soul. Egyptians believed the stone carried rejuvenating energy and used it in face masks and amulets, trusting it to preserve youth, beauty, and emotional balance.

Rose Quartz was understood as a stone of gentle power, not force.

Perhaps the most well known legend of Rose Quartz comes from Greek mythology, where love and tragedy are never far apart.

According to the myth, Rose Quartz was created when Aphrodite, the goddess of love, rushed to save her beloved Adonis, who had been mortally wounded. In her haste, Aphrodite cut herself on a thorn bush. Their blood mingled on the earth, staining the quartz a soft pink.

The stone became a symbol of eternal love and devotion.

Across time, cultures, and belief systems, the message has remained the same:

Rose Quartz represents love that heals, not love that demands.
It stands for compassion, gentleness, and connection.

In modern crystal lore, Rose Quartz is often called the stone of Universal Love. This encompasses all types of love, but in many metaphysical practices it is the stone to use for self-love. It is a reflection of how our understanding of love has evolved. Today, we recognize that loving others begins with learning how to love ourselves.

Rose Quartz is a stone with a gentle energy that meets you where you are at, bringing love and acceptance into your life.

When you choose to work with or wear Rose Quartz, you are choosing to

Speak more kindly to yourself
Soften your inner dialogue
Allow yourself to heal at your own pace
Trust that love can exist without urgency

It’s a stone for those who are rebuilding, relearning, and returning to themselves after loss, burnout, or self-doubt.

Rose Quartz doesn't fix everything, but it is a reminder that you are worthy of patience and care. And maybe, just maybe, that is why we are still so drawn to it today.
