The Legends Behind the Stone: Labradorite

The Legends Behind the Stone: Labradorite

Labradorite is a very popular stone, which happens to be one of my favourites! Today I will not be covering the facts about Labradorite (leave a comment if you would like me to and I will), but rather going over some folklore surrounding the stone.

According to Eskimo legend the Northern Lights fell from the sky and got captured in the stone along the coast of Labrador. It is told that a warrior came upon these stones and tried to set the Northern Lights free with his spear, he freed most of the Northern Lights, but not all. The ones that stayed trapped were said to be what gave Labradorite its stunning flashes of colour.

What do you think of this legend?
